Innovate Landfill Solution (ILS) Canada supports community-led recycling initiatives aimed at environmental protection. This program empowers local communities to lead projects that foster a healthy environment, enhance social inclusion, and promote civic engagement. The focus is on establishing sustainable recycling habits, particularly for hard-to-recycle materials like batteries and electronics. Participants can win prizes up to $1,500 through well-organized environmental activities. The program provides resources without financial burden, allowing organizations to achieve meaningful environmental impact and gain recognition. Support is available for one year or until funds are exhausted.

Eligibility Criteria for Program Participation

To be eligible to participate in the Innovate Landfill Solution (ILS) Canada Program, organizations must meet the following criteria:

1. Active Organizations: The organization must be actively operating at the time of application.
2. Minimum Size: The organization, including employees and members, must have a total of at least 30 individuals. There is no maximum size limit.
3. Facility Use: Applicants must specify if the organization operates within a building. Details regarding the building address must be provided. If the building is rented, this should be clearly indicated.
4. Legal Registration: The organization or facility must be legally registered with the government.
5. Geographical Location: The organization must be located within the Greater Toronto Area (GTA), Aurora, Pickering, or Oakville regions.
6. Event Infrastructure Requirements:
   
   • A designated area for table setup is required for the event.
   • A location for posting posters must be available.
   • A space for placing envelopes and at least two recycling boxes for home use must be allocated.
   • Collection space proportional to the number of participants: For example, one standard
     householdrecycling bin size for every 20 participants (collection bins are provided by ILS).
7. Recycling Collection Coordination: An individual from the organization must be available to coordinate with ILS on the scheduling of recyclable material collection times.

Organizations meeting these criteria are encouraged to apply and contribute to a sustainable environmental protection initiative within their communities. Please ensure that all application details are thoroughly reviewed and meet the above requirements to ensure a smooth and efficient application process.

Our project support is dedicated to organizations with a strong sense of environmental responsibility and a keen desire to initiate environmental protection activities through their membership. We will support all organizations that apply within the specified period. Applications submitted after this period will not be accepted, and there will be no program support applications accepted until further notice from ILS regarding subsequent support.

Event Activities Implementation

1. Location Requirements: Activities must be conducted in the actual building where your facility or organization operates. Optionally, if you wish to engage the local community, activities may also take place in public and accessible spaces within your organization’s building.

2. Duration of Support: Event activities will be supported for one year or until funding is depleted, whichever comes first.

3. Documentation: ILS Canada will request photos and videos of the program implementation from the participating institutions. Should any actions deviate from the spirit of the program support, support will be terminated.

This framework ensures that our support aligns with initiatives that contribute to a sustainable and inclusive environmental future, reinforcing our collective responsibility towards a healthier planet.
