Hard-to-recycle plastics, such as multi-layer packaging (MLP) and plastic films, pose one of the most significant challenges in waste management today. These materials, designed for durability and functionality, often end up in landfills because they cannot be easily separated for recycling. In Ontario alone, over 1.4 million tons of these plastics are discarded annually, creating a growing environmental burden.
At ILS Canada, we’re committed to addressing this issue head-on. Through initiatives like the MLP Collection Campaign and the innovative EcoPrize system, we are mobilizing communities to collect and manage these materials effectively. By combining awareness, technology, and action, we aim to reduce the strain on landfills and repurpose plastics into valuable resources.
Hard-to-recycle plastics don’t have to be a dead end. With collaborative efforts and innovative solutions, we can turn this challenge into an opportunity for a cleaner, more sustainable future. Join us in rethinking waste and reshaping our environment!
